All Day Wear
The Fenix 5S Sapphire has been built with a striking but smaller design that is suited for wearing all day every day whether you’re at work in the office or you’re competing in a triathlon. The watch provides all day activity tracking and comes with a super-durable construction which is fully waterproof with a 10ATM rating that means you can swim and shower while wearing the watch.
Heart Rate Monitor
One of the best metrics that is available to us for looking at your general fitness, emotional wellbeing and general health is your heart beat. The Fenix 5S therefore comes with a heart rate monitor fully integrated into the wrist of the watch. This takes away the hassle of having to wear an annoying and uncomfortable chest or arm based sensor the Fenix 5S provides you with accurate heart rate monitoring around the clock.
Training
During training sessions the watch uses GPS and GLONASS sensors to help track your performance levels and then gives you specific guidance on how to take your training to the next level. The watch does this in three main ways:
Training Status – Lets you know how effective your current training is and gives you guidance on whether or not your training is productive and helping you make progress.
Training Load – Lets you know how hard you train over a period of time no matter what kind of activity or training you have been doing.
Recovery Advisor – Tells you your recommended recovery time counting down from when you finish your last training session.
Multisport
The Fenix 5S is compatible with multiple different sports and comes preloaded with sport specific displays for running, swimming and triathlon. Each of these sports comes with a different display which shows you the most suitable metrics for that particular sport. For further sports you can also create and customise your own.
Navigation
Using GPS and GLONASS positioning, advanced sensors and built-in altimeter, thermometer and barometer the watch allows you to step off the beaten track without fear. The watch therefore provides you with key information on your surroundings including your elevation data and key weather information. The 3-axis electronic compass will also keep you from getting lost.
Connectivity
By syncing the Fenix 5S to your smartphone you also receive thousands of other features and functions. You can use the Garmin Connect app to automatically upload your performance data so that you can track the information and see your progress plus share your results. You can also use the app to customise your watch including your watch face. The connection also allows you to receive smart notification from your phone straight to your watch’s display including text messages and call alerts.
